Teenage boy dead in Blue Springs car crash

BLUE SPRINGS, MO – An 18-year-old is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Blue Springs this morning, according to a crash report published by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 9:30 a.m. at 1835 Highway AA, when a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe drove off the right side of the road.

The driver, 18-year-old Wyatt M. Hampton, of Farmington, overcorrected the vehicle and went off the left side of the roadway. After colliding with an embankment, the Tahoe flipped over, killing Hampton.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:51 a.m.

Hampton was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt when the accident occurred.

The Tahoe was totaled in the collision.
