St. Louis motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run collision on I-55

ST. LOUIS, MO – A 57-year-old St. Louis motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run collision on southbound I-55 on Wednesday night.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, an alleged Honda Accord was traveling at high rates of speed on southbound I-55. The driver changed lanes and struck a 2005 Honda VT750 motorcycle, driven by Gary E. Turner. Turner was ejected from the motorcycle and the Honda struck him again. The accident happened at mile marker 193 around 7:30 p.m. MSHP reports the Honda driver fled the crash scene.

Turner was transported to Mercy Hospital South. He was pronounced dead at 8:07 a.m. MSHP reports he was not wearing a seat belt.

The motorcycle sustained extensive damages. MSHP reports the Honda had minor damages.
