St. Clair motorcyclist dies in Missouri 30 crash, passenger injured

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO – A 47-year-old St. Clair motorcyclist was killed and a 45-year-old female passenger was injured when a 1991 Ford F-150 hit a 2007 Harley Davidson on Friday afternoon.

Richard N. Carpenter, 28, was traveling east on Missouri 30 in the Ford when he attempted to turn left, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol. He traveled into the path of the Harley and the two vehicles collided. Police report the crash happened near Highway K around 3 p.m.

Shawn M. Jackson, the motorcycle driver, and Heather W. Gentry, a passenger on the motorcycle, were transported to Mercy Hospital Washington. Jackson was pronounced dead at the hospital at 3:50 p.m. Gentry sustained serious injuries.

Both Jackson and Carpenter were wearing seat belts. Gentry was not wearing a seat belt.

The motorcycle was totaled and the Ford sustained extensive damages.
