St. Clair man seriously injured after being hit by pickup truck on I-44

ST. CLAIR, MO – A pedestrian was severely injured after being hit by a pickup truck on I-44 in Franklin County on Friday night, according to information from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on the I-44 S service road near Sunny Meadows Road north of St. Clair at 8:25 p.m., as 33-year-old Jearald R Vongladeth, of St. Clair, was reportedly walking in the westbound lane of the roadway.

The driver of a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck, 30-year-old St. Clair resident Kelsey C. Kelley, swerved to avoid a collision with Vongladeth. However, the front-left corner of her vehicle collided with him, causing him to land in the eastbound side of the highway.

Vongladeth was taken to the hospital in St. Louis with severe injuries.
