Speeding driver causes head-on collision, two people injured

DEFIANCE, MO – Two people were injured in a head-on collision on Highway D caused by a speeding driver on Tuesday evening.

Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 51-year-old Myla R. Stewart was speeding in a 2015 Toyota Corolla on westbound Highway D. The Toyota traveled into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a 2000 Chevrolet Express, driven by 29-year-old Jose A. Rodriguez. MSHP reports the crash happened east of August A. Busch Lake Number 21 around 5:33 p.m.

Stewart and Rodriguez were both transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. MSHP reports Stewart sustained serious injuries and Rodriguez sustained minor injuries. They were both were wearing seat belts.

Both vehicles were totaled.
