CHESTERFIELD, MO – A pilot was injured after a small plane crashed Saturday near a middle school parking lot, according to KMOV.

The accident happened near Parkway West Middle School at about 11:15 a.m. after a small plane took off from the airport at Creve Coeur.

The pilot, 64, who was the only person aboard the craft, was taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

According to reports, more injuries would have been possible if the accident had occurred during the week when children would have been on the school campus.

The crash is under investigation by multiple agencies at this time, including the Federal Aviation Administration.
