Semi driver causes three-vehicle crash on westbound I-70

EARTH CITY, MO – A semi driver failed to observe traffic when switching lanes on westbound I-70 causing a three-vehicle crash on Monday morning.

According to police reports, 61-year-old Robert Aeschlman was traveling westbound on I-70 east of Earth City Expressway (Highway 141) in a 2020 Freightliner when he struck a 2010 Volkswagon around 7:53 a.m. The impact caused the Volkswagon to spin and hit a 2011 Ford Edge, driven by 48-year-old Laura Jerele. Then, the Volkswagon traveled off the left side of I-70 and overturned.

58-year-old Debra Richardson, the Volkswagon driver, sustained minor injuries and was transported to SSM St. Joseph Hospital St. Charles.
