Pedestrian killed in St. Clair County accident

CASEYVILLE, IL – Joseph J. Maly, Jr., 73, was struck and killed by a Saturn Outlook when he was crossing northbound Illinois Route 159 on Wednesday evening.

According to 5 On Your Side News, the fatal accident occurred near the Hollywood Heights Road intersection around 7:45 p.m.

Maly was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The Saturn was driven by a 37-year-old man who sustained no injuries in the crash. None of his passengers, all children, were injured either.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
