One person killed, one seriously injured in semi head-on collision

PIKE COUNTY, MO – One person was killed and another person seriously injured in a head-on collision between a semi and a 2003 GMC Sierra on Highway 51 early Wednesday morning.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sloan A. Hunter, 25, was traveling south on Highway 51 north of Perry County Road 210 when she traveled into oncoming traffic. His GMC crashed head-on into a northbound semi, driven by 63-year-old Almeda F. Eaves. The accident happened around 1:26 a.m.

Hunter was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Eaves was airlifted to Barnes Jewish Hospital. Her current condition is unknown. She was wearing a seat belt.

Both vehicles were totaled.
