One person killed after car hits tree, catches fire

WELDON SPRING, MO – A car struck a tree and caught fire killing one person in a St. Charles County intersection on Sunday evening.

According to 5 On Your Side News, the fatal single-vehicle crash occurred in the area of the Wolfrum Road and Patriotic Trail intersection around 7 p.m.

Local authorities found a Ford Explorer in flames when they reported to the scene.

They reported only one person was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. That person was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
