Friday, March 13, 2020 - Kichler has recalled nearly 39,000 ceiling fans sold at Lowe's and specialty lighting stores throughout the United States after the company received 62 complaints that fan blades have detached and fallen. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the fans pose an injury hazard.
The recalled 52-inch indoor ceiling fans, Model 35153, have five blades and feature bronze accents, an integrated LED module, a Mediterranean walnut finish, and etched umber glass. The model number is printed above the fan's motor housing.
Recalled fans manufactured by the Cleveland, Ohio-based company were sold between January 2016 and March 2020, and sold for about $250 each.
According to the CPSC, the iron arms attaching the fan blades to the motor housing have the potential to detach during use. When this happens, the blades can fall. Of the 62 reports received by Kichler, the CPSC says only one has caused property damage. No injuries have been reported.
