Moped driver dies from injuries sustained in Ferguson crash

FERGUSON, MO – A 19-year-old male moped driver was hit by a 2015 GMC Yukon and died from his injuries on Thursday evening.

Police report the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Hereford Avenue and N. Florissant Road (Highway N) around 5:57 p.m. Tyrell Johnson, 35, was at the intersection and stopped at N. Florissant Road to make a left-hand turn onto Hereford Avenue. Nathan Burns, 19, traveled into the intersection with no lights on his moped turned on. He entered the path of Johnson’s GMC and the rear of his moped was struck.

Burns was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital for life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:29 p.m. The moped was totaled and the GMC sustained moderate damages.
