Medical emergency causes two-vehicle collision on Highway 50

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO — According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, one man was injured after a medical emergency caused him to cross the centerline of Highway 50 and crash into another vehicle near the road’s intersection with Highway C. 

The accident occurred Thursday at 3:09 p.m. when Shawn McCready, 45, experienced a medical emergency, lost control of his 2003 GMC Sierra, and crossed from the eastbound side of Highway 50 into the westbound lanes, where he struck a 2016 Peterbilt semi truck.

Officials took McCready to Barnes Jewish Hospital with treat serious injuries.

The details of the medical emergency have not been reported.
