Man seriously injured in motorcycle crash on I-55 in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO — A 32-year-old Festus man suffered serious injuries early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on Interstate 55 southbound in Jefferson County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on a stretch of I-55 southbound north of mile marker 179.2 and was reported by Trooper D. A. Norton at 12:25 a.m.

The man was heading southbound on a 1999 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle when his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

The rider was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with serious injuries. His condition has not been disclosed. The MSHP crash report indicates he was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle was totaled in the accident and towed from the scene.
