Man seriously injured in I-55 SB crash in Ste. Genevieve County

STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, MO — A 65-year-old Festus man suffered serious injuries Sunday morning after a single-car collision on Interstate 55 southbound in Ste. Genevieve County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-55 at mile marker 161 and was reported by Trooper C. S. Geralds at 10:05 a.m.

The man was at the wheel of a 1999 Ford Mustang when he attempted to overtake another vehicle on the highway and lost control of his vehicle, which caused it to travel off the roadway and strike a rock bluff.

The man was transported by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital with serious injuries. His condition remains undisclosed.

The 1999 Ford Mustang was totaled in the accident.
