WASHINGTON COUNTY, MO — A 26-year-old Park Hills man was seriously injured Wednesday night in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Highway U near Mineral Point, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes of Highway U near Hopewell Road at around 8:40 p.m.

The young man was riding a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle northbound when he attempted to make a right turn onto Hopewell Road. The undercarriage of the bike struck the roadway, causing the vehicle to run off the roadway and overturn.

The rider was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South with serious injuries. His condition has not been disclosed.

The MSHP crash report indicates he was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.

The motorcycle sustained minor damages in the accident and was towed from the scene by a private conveyance.
