Injuries reported following multi-vehicle collision in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, MO – A St. Louis woman was hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash in St. Charles County early Thursday morning.

According to the official crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-70 just pass Mid Rivers Mall Drive around 5:00 a.m.

The crash was caused by the driver of a 2021 Freightliner who switched lanes without noticing a 2014 Nissan Altima was in the way. The Freightliner struck the Altima, driven by 59-year-old Donna Walton-Martin, sending the vehicle into a spin before it struck a concrete barrier.

Walton-Martin was transported via ambulance to SSM Health St. Joseph to be treated for moderate injuries sustained in the wreck.

The 57-year-old male driver of the Freightliner remained at the scene cooperating with police.
