Imperial woman hurt after vehicle backs into hers

WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, MO (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – A woman from Imperial was injured Friday afternoon after another car backed into hers in Jefferson County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on Miller Road, when a 2000 GMC Acadia, driven by 34-year-old Christopher M. Novak, of Imperial, was backing out of nearby Paradise Lane.

Novak failed to watch for incoming traffic, and the vehicle collided with the side of a 2017 Jeep Latitude, operated by 66-year-old Cathy L. Cook, also of Imperial.

Cook was taken to Mercy Hospital South with minor injuries. She and Novak were reportedly both wearing their seatbelts when the crash occurred.

The Jeep was totaled in the collision.
