Illinois woman killed, man injured in Benton Park hit-and-run

ST. LOUIS, MO – A hit-and-run in the Benton Park area late Friday night led to the death of a woman from Illinois and the serious injury of a man, according to KSDK.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Arsenal Street and Lemp Avenue, near I-55, when 48-year-old Tiffany Kurkjian, of Millstadt, Ill., and a 45-year-old man were walking near the street.

They were struck by the driver of a silver or gray 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, who then fled the scene.

The pedestrians were taken to the hospital, where Kurkjian succumbed to her injuries.

The male victim, who was not immediately identified, sustained critical injuries. As of Saturday morning, his condition was stable.

Authorities are searching for the driver and continue to investigate the crash.
