High-speed driver killed in multi-vehicle accident

WARREN COUNTY, MO – A person died after striking multiple semi trucks with their car on I-70, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

According to Highway Patrol, a 2004 Ford Taurus was travelling at a high speed westbound on I-70 and attempted to pass a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia on the right shoulder. However, the Ford hit the Freightliner, then reentered the right lane of traffic and rear-ended a 2016 Peterbilt 579. 

A fourth vehicle was also damaged due to flying debris, officials report.

According to Warren County Assistant Coroner Dean Jackson, the driver of the Ford died at the scene. 

This accident is still under investigation.
