Four people and dog killed in De Soto house fire, another two people seriously hurt

DE SOTO, MO (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – A house fire in De Soto early this morning led to the death of four people and a dog, and caused two others to suffer serious burn injuries, according to KPLR.

The fire began at about 2 a.m. at 547 Vineland School Road, located near Vineland Elementary School and Woodland Memorial Park.

Two residents inside the home were forced to escape through the second-story window of the home, as the staircase was destroyed in the blaze. The victims were taken to the hospital for the treatment of severe burn injuries.

Four people and a dog died at the scene of the four-alarm fire. Firefighters had difficulty accessing the home due to the dangerous, violent nature of the blaze.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about three hours.

The victims have not yet been publicly identified.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
