A local motorist was killed in an accident in Festus late Tuesday afternoon.
At 4:15 p.m., 44-year-old Russel B. McKenzie was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala on Bailey School Road when the vehicle unexpectedly left the road and crashed into a tree. The car incurred massive damage while McKenzie sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. There is currently no indication DUI or other vehicles were involved in the incident. Authorities are actively investigating the case.
