Explosion, fire destroys home in North St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – Officials with the St. Louis Fire Department responded to a reported explosion at a home north of downtown late Tuesday night.

According to Fox 2 Now, firefighters responded to the scene near the intersection of Newhouse Avenue and North 11th Street shortly after 11:00 p.m

Rescue dogs were brought in to search for anyone that may have been trapped inside the home at the time of the blast which violently ejected bricks, window casings, and an AC unit.

Luckily, all occupants of the home were eventually accounted for outside. Officials worked throughout the night to control the blaze and shut off the gas.

An investigation into the official cause of the incident remains underway.
