Driver injured after falling asleep on Hwy 67, near Route CC

FESTUS, MO – A driver suffered moderate injuries after falling asleep at the wheel on the section of Hwy 67 north of Route CC, according to MSHP.

James W Wallace, 20, fell asleep while driving a Dodge 1500 on southbound Hwy 67. As he neared Route CC, Wallace struck a guardrail.

The impact from the collision sent the Dodge 1500 into oncoming traffic in the northbound lanes of Hwy 67, where he struck a Ford Transit Van operated by Mark A Tesson 51.

Wallace’s vehicle finally came to a rest after slamming into a concrete barrier. He was taken by Rock Township Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Jefferson when the first responders arrived on the scene around 5:30 a.m.

Tesson was not injured in the collision.
