Blades Can Break Free, Putting Users at Risk
Monday, February 10, 2020 – Country Home Products, dba DR Power Equipment, has issued a voluntary recall of about 100 three-wheeled walk-behind leaf blowers due to the potential for blades to break off during use.
The recall has been issued on the South Burlington, Vermont-based company’s DR PREMIER 1200, DR PRO 200SP, and DR PRO 2000 units.
According to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), four lots of blowers are affected, including:
- R PREMIER 1200 Walk Behind Leaf Blower Lot WB13010DMN
- R PRO 2000 Walk Behind Leaf Blower Lot WB15020DMN
- R PRO 2000 Walk Behind Leaf Blower Lot WB15020DEN
- R PRO 2000SP Walk Behind Leaf Blower Lot WB17020DEN
Recalled blowers were sold for $800 to $1,700 each from September 2019 through November 2019 by authorized dealerships nationwide, as well as online at www.drpower.com. They have a circular orange metal face with a black center. The letters “DR” are printed on the left front side of the housing, as well as on the label that contains the serial number on the back right side.
The potential for blades to become loose and ejected during use poses a significant risk of injury. CPSC has received reports of eight incidents of blades becoming loose and flying from the units. No injuries have been reported.
