Dixon man airlifted to Columbia after ATV accident in Phelps County

NEWBURG, MO (PHELPS COUNTY) – A man was seriously hurt after being ejected from an ATV in Phelps County this evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on Highway P, north of FS-7695, located about 3 miles southwest of Newburg, at 5:25 p.m. when a 2010 John Deere Gator ATV ran off the right side of the highway.

The ATV went into a ditch and ejected the driver, 36-year-old Dixon man James R. Johnson.

Johnson was airlifted to the hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the collision.
