An interstate accident was reported in Grain Valley Wednesday morning.
At 8:39 a.m., 58-year-old Kevin J. McLaughlin of Kansas City was driving a 2017 Peterbilt east on I-70 when a 2012 Mazda unexpectedly veered onto the path of the truck west of Route BB. The subsequent collision injured both McLaughlin and the driver of the Mazda, 29-year-old Ginger L. Brooks of Oak Grove. They were transported to Centerpoint Hospital. Both vehicles incurred disabling damage and had to be towed from the crash site. The incident is currently under investigation.
Accidents involving trucks and other large vehicles typically result in serious injuries and other collateral effects such as road blockages. Identifying negligent individuals is imperative if future incidents are to be prevented. That said, the involvement of negligence may also allow victims to file claims against these reckless individuals with the help of personal injury experts.
