UNION, MO – Two people, including a three-year-old boy, were injured in a car accident this afternoon on U.S. Highway 50, according to a crash report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of US-50 and Route AT. A 2005 Ford Explorer driven by 21-year-old Victor J. Hernandez, of Granite City, Illinois, attempted to make a left turn from Route AT. A 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Union woman Desiree R. Rainey, 24, struck the front left side of the Ford.
Rainey and a passenger, a 3-year-old boy, were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington for the treatment of minor injuries.
All three people involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.
The Ford received minor damage, and the Chevrolet was totaled in the accident.
