DE SOTO, MO (JEFFERSON COUNTY) – Three people were injured today in a head-on collision in Jefferson County, according to a crash report published by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 12:15 p.m. on Route E, near McGehan Road, when a 1992 Chevrolet 1500 crossed over the center of the roadway and into oncoming traffic. The Chevrolet, driven by 62-year-old De Soto man Joseph F. Frank, then struck a 2009 Honda Civic head-on.
The two occupants of the Honda, 48-year-old passenger Amy B. Canada and 20-year-old driver Hunter R. Canada, both also of De Soto, were injured in the collision. Amy Canada was airlifted with severe injuries to Mercy hospital, while Hunter Canada was taken with moderate injuries to the hospital by ground ambulance. They were both wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened.
Frank was airlifted to Mercy Hospital for the treatment of serious injuries. He was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
