79-year-old killed, another woman injured in crash southwest of Lebanon

SPRING HOLLOW TOWNSHIP, MO (LACLEDE COUNTY) – An elderly woman died of wounds sustained during a collision on Wednesday that also seriously injured another woman southwest of Lebanon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at about 9:15 a.m. in Spring Hollow Township, which is located about 3.5 miles southwest of Lebanon, at the intersection of Highway 32 and Neosho Drive.

The crash occurred when 42-year-old Sikeston woman Karen A. Brown, operating a 2008 Acura TL, did not yield to traffic. Brown’s Acura collided with a 2015 GMC Sierra, operated by 79-year-old Cleta J. McEwen, of Lebanon.

McEwen was airlifted to the hospital in Springfield and was pronounced dead there on Thursday at 5:36 p.m.

Brown was taken to the hospital for the treatment of serious wounds.

Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
