77-year-old man in serious condition after wrong-way crash on Hwy 64

LEBANON, MO – A 77-year-old man was seriously hurt in a head-on collision in Laclede County yesterday afternoon that totaled both vehicles involved, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at noon near Bennett Spring State Park on Hwy 64, about 8 miles west of Lebanon when the 77-year-old driver of a 1999 Ford Explorer went off the side of the roadway.

The driver, Hartville man Donald E. Rogers, overcorrected his vehicle, which sent it over the center line and into the path of oncoming traffic.

The Explorer collided head-on with a 2020 Ford Escape operated by 42-year-old Lebanon woman Heidi R. Schooler.

Rogers was airlifted to the hospital in Springfield for the treatment of serious injuries.

Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
