72-year-old man seriously injured in Jefferson County crash

CEDAR HILL, MO – A 72-year-old man sustained serious injuries in a crash at eastbound Highway 30 and Cedar Hill Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Deryl L. Lill was traveling southbound on Cedar Hill Road in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee when he crossed into the path of a 2015 Jeep Latitude, driven by 18-year-old Laayna J. Scawizynski, that was traveling eastbound on Highway 30, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The Latitude struck the right side of the Cherokee, causing it to go off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

Lill, of Cedar Hill, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Scawizynski, of High Ridge, was wearing a seat belt and not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m.
