68-year-old man injured in Highway U accident

PEMISCOT, MO – A 68-year-old Caruthersville man was injured in an accident on Highway U on Thursday afternoon.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 15-year-old female was traveling south in a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic when she failed to stop at a stop sign. The Chevrolet turned into the path of a westbound 2017 Nissan Titan, driven by Fred T. Montgomery. MSHP reports the crash happened around 3:40 p.m.

Montgomery was transported to Great River Medical for minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Chevrolet was totaled and the Nissan sustained extensive damages.
