36-year-old woman killed after car strikes tree

STE. GENEVIEVE COUNTY, MO – A 36-year-old woman was killed after her 2005 Ford Focus struck a tree on Highway C on Monday night.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Traci L. Ranta, of Ste. Genevieve, was speeding on eastbound Highway C when she traveled off the road and struck a tree. The fatal crash occurred around 7:50 p.m.

Ranta was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:57 p.m. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The Ford was totaled.
