3 dead, 4 injured in multi-vehicle crash on I-270 in Florissant

FLORISSANT, MO – Three people were killed and another four, including two children, were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-270 this evening, according to information from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on eastbound I-270 west of W Florissant Road at around 6:05 p.m., as the driver of a 2008 Lexus IS-250, 24-year-old St. Louis man Kenrick G. Smalling, was reportedly traveling too fast for conditions. He lost control of his vehicle and it began to slide.

The Lexus then collided with the left side of a 2013 Kia Sorrento being driven by 42-year-old Florissant woman Vivian D. Mansaray. The Lexus then slid into the right side of a 2017 GMC Acadia being driven by 55-year-old Florissant resident Gladys N. Manuel.

The Lexus slid off the right side of the highway, where it overturned and collided with a chain-link fence.

Smalling was pronounced dead at the scene. His two passengers, 21-year-old Florissant resident Aliyah R. Tatum and 24-year-old St. Louis man Dion Martin, were taken to the hospital, where they later were also declared deceased.

Mansaray was taken to the hospital for the treatment of moderate injuries.

Three passengers in the Sorrento, 24-year-old Ivy J. Earl, a 13-year-old girl, and a 7-year-old girl, all from Florissant, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The occupants of the Acadia were not reported as injured.
