29-year-old man sustains moderate injuries after vehicle overturns

ST. PETERS, MO – A 29-year-old man sustained moderate injuries after his vehicle overturned after traveling off westbound I-70 on Friday evening.

Police report Cody M. Maki, 29, was traveling westbound on I-70 just west of Mid Rivers Mall Drive when he traveled off the north side of the interstate around 6:10 p.m.

His 2006 Hyundai Tiburon traveled through a guardrail and metal fence. It then proceeded to travel off a four foot wall and overturned onto North Service Road below.

The Hyundai struck the right rear of a 2007 Dodge Challenger that was traveling eastbound on North Service Road.

Maki was transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis for moderate injuries. The driver of the Dodge, 43-year-old Benjamin M. Singleton, was not injured in the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Hyundai was totaled in the crash and the Dodge sustained minor damages.

It is unclear why Maki traveled off the interstate. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
