27-year-old driver hits deer on US-61, passenger sustains injuries

PIKE COUNTY, MO – A 27-year-old driver from La Porte City, IA hit a deer on southbound US-61 causing his 2021 Hyundai Venue to crash early Tuesday morning. A 22-year-old passenger was injured in the crash.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jessie J. Harmon was traveling south on US-61 when she hit a deer north of Highway UU around 3:15 a.m.
Derian L. Young was transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital for minor injuries. Both he and Harmon were wearing seat belts.
The Hyundai sustained extensive damages.
