22-year-old dead in single-vehicle car accident in Potosi

POTOSI, MO (WASHINGTON COUNTY) – A 22-year-old man is dead following a car accident Saturday night in Washington County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 10:05 p.m. on Lick Skillet Road, near Pelican Road, when a 2012 Dodge Avenger was unable to properly negotiate a curve and drove off the side of the road.

The Dodge then collided with a tree, resulting in the death of the driver, 22-year-old Johnathan E. Burns, of Potosi. He was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt when the accident happened.

Burns was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:04 p.m.

No other injuries were reported in the collision.
