PARK HILLS, MO (ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY) – Three people were hurt, two of them seriously so, in a head-on collision involving a semi-truck in St. Francois County Monday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on Route B, near Russell Road and St. Joe State Park, just after 12 p.m. as the driver of a 1989 Chevrolet 1500, 30-year-old Brian J. Thomlinson, of Ironton, was unable to execute a curve due to allegedly driving too fast for road conditions.
The Chevrolet then collided with the front of a 2015 Freightliner flatbed truck, driven by 61-year-old Ken M. Helton, of Doe Run.
Thomlinson and his passenger, Brianna L. McGuire, 28, of Bismarck, were taken to hospital in St. Francois County with severe injuries. They were reportedly not wearing a seatbelt when the collision occurred.
Helton was taken to Parkland Hospital in Farmington for the treatment of minor injuries and was reported as wearing his seatbelt.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident.
