2 people injured in St. Charles County intersection collision

WENTZVILLE, MO – Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway Z and Francis Street on Thursday afternoon.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Adele M. Zilke, 19, was stopped on southbound Highway Z in a 2006 Honda Accord and attempting to make a left turn onto Francis Street. Shelby E. Schneider, 25, was traveling south on Highway Z in a 2103 Hyundai Accent and failed to keep a proper lookout. She rear-ended the Honda around 1:20 p.m. The impact caused the Hyundai to spin into oncoming traffic and collide with a northbound 2001 Ford Ranger, driven by 77-year-old John B. Howard.

Schneider and Howard were transported to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital Lake St. Louis for moderate injuries. All drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Hyundai was totaled and both the Honda and Ford sustained extensive damages.
