FRANKLIN CO., MO – Two people were injured when several vehicles crashed while attempting to avoid a mowing tractor that entered the I-44 roadway yesterday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

Two semi trucks and a Chevrolet Silverado were traveling east on I-44 when a mowing tractor entered the roadway from the shoulder near milepost 233. The Silverado and one of the semis swerved left to avoid the mower, crashing into each other before being rear-ended by the second semi.

Authorities arrived on the scene by 1:35 p.m., and transported the driver and a passenger from the Silverado to Missouri Baptist Hospital for treatment.

The mower’s operator seems to have avoided injury, as did the two truck drivers.
