2 dead, 1 critically injured following car-splitting crash on I-55

ST. LOUIS, MO – Two men were killed, and another person was injured in a multi-vehicle collision on I-55 near downtown St. Louis early this morning, according to KSDK.

The collision happened on southbound I-55 and Gravois Avenue, when the driver of a 2021 Mercedes GLE 63S T-boned a 2016 Honda Accord. The impact split the Honda into two pieces and caused the Mercedes to overturn onto I-55.

The man driving the Mercedes and a 26-year-old male passenger in the Accord both died at the scene.

The other driver was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, where they are in stable condition.

The accident remains under investigation.
