18-year-old driver injured in four-vehicle crash on northbound I-270

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO – An 18-year-old Lake St. Louis driver was injured in a four-vehicle crash on northbound I-270 on Friday afternoon.

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, 47-year-old Jason V. Mueller was traveling north on I-270 in a 2011 Ford Taurus when he rear-ended a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 18-year-old Leah M. Waters. The impact caused the Chevrolet to hit the side of a 2013 Nissan Altima, driven by 31-year-old Zachary L. Meyer. Police report the Ford also struck the rear of the Nissan. The Chevrolet struck the right side of a 2017 Dodge Promaster City cargo van, driven by 57-year-old Gene White.

Police report the accident happened north of Dorsett Road around 4:45 p.m.

Waters was transported to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for minor injuries.

All drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Chevrolet, Nissan, and Ford were all totaled. Police report the cargo van sustained moderate damages.
