15-year-old dead, 5 other teens injured in E St. Louis rollover crash

EAST ST. LOUIS, IL – A 15-year-old girl was killed and four other teenagers sustained severe injuries during a rollover crash in East St. Louis early this morning.

According to KMOX, the crash occurred on I-55/I-70 just before 1 a.m., when the 18-year-old driver of an Infiniti Q40, St. Louis resident Kevin Zimmerman, lost control of his vehicle.

The vehicle collided with a guardrail, then rolled over, before landing in the left lanes of the interstate.

A 15-year-old girl from Barnhart, Missouri, was ejected during the accident, and died at the scene.

Two other 15-year-old girls, both from St. Louis, were taken to the hospital for treatment, as was Zimmerman and passengers Joseph Alwaeli, 18, and Cameron Sherzai, 19, both from St. Louis.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
