ST. LOUIS, MO – A teenage boy has been brought to the juvenile court system after he and four other teenagers stole a car, then led police officers on a chase that ended when the car collided with a fence early this morning in the Kingsway area.
According to KSDK, the incident began at about 3:45 a.m. when a man came home to his residence in the 5000 block of Maffit Avenue. A group of five teenagers was standing near the home when one of the boys pulled a gun on the 45-year-old victim and asked him to hand over his car keys
The group then got into the car after the man gave them the keys, and they struck a parked, vacant car while driving away from the scene.
Police spotted the vehicle about 40 minutes later, and a chase ensued. The pursuit ended when the stolen vehicle collided with a fence near the Bellefontaine Cemetery, and the five teenagers attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Authorities managed to catch one of the boys before taking him to the hospital for a check-up. After the hospital visit, the 14-year-old boy was arrested and will be facing charges in juvenile court. The arrested teenager is reportedly not the same boy who threatened the victim with a gun.
No injuries have been reported as of yet.
Police continue to investigate the accident at this time.
