Car Wreck Kills One Bicyclist, Injures Another

In St. Louis on Monday, July 18, a 14-year-old boy was bicycling his sister home when disaster struck. The younger sister, who was five-years-old, was standing on the back pegs of the bike as the pair crossed an intersection. An SUV was driving southbound on the road and didn't see them in time to stop. He then collided with the children, the car accident effectively ejecting them from the bike. The pair was then struck by a bus travelling in the opposite direction.
As there was no stop sign for the SUV driver, police officers are currently reviewing video cameras from the bus. There is currently no decision on whether or not there will be any criminal charges filed.
Following the bicycle accident, the little girl was pronounced dead and the boy was taken to a local hospital to receive immediate medical attention. It has been reported that he was sedated and was expected to undergo surgery; however, it was not certain whether or not the injuries were life-threatening in nature.
